THERMODYNAMICS ASSESMENT CRITERIA FOR COGENERATION SYSTEMS IN SUGAR CANE FACTORIES
 
Summary :
ABSTRACT. TWO COGENERATION PLANTS ARE ANALIZED: THE FIRST EMPLOYES A BACK PRESSURE TURBINE WITH STEAM PARAMETERS OF 2,1 MPA AND 300 OC, AND THE OTHER ONE AN EXTRACTION/CONDENSATION TURBINE WITH STEAM PARAMETERS OF 8,0 MPA AND 450 OC. BOTH CASES CORRESPOND TO A SUGAR CANE FACTORY WITH 200 T/H OF SUGAR CANE MILLING CAPACITY. FOR THE ELETRICITY AND HEAT GENERATION EFFICIENCY DIFFERENT THERMODYNAMICS CRITERIA ARE APPLIED: THE ENERGY UTILIZATION FACTOR, THE ARTIFICIAL THERMAL EFFICIENCY, THE FUEL ENERGY ECONOMICS RELATIONSHIP AND THE COGENERATION EFFICIENCY. THE POSSIBILITY OF AUXILIARY FUELS UTILIZATION IN OFF-SEASON PERIOD USING CANE TRASH, EUCALIPTUS, AND NATURAL GAS IS ANALYZED, CONSIDERING ALSO DIFFERENT PRICES SCENARIOS. FOR EACH CASE THE ELECTRICITY GENERATION COST IS CALCULATED, USING THE EXTRACTION COST ALLOCATION METHOD. KEYWORDS: COGENERATION, SUGAR CANE FACTORIES, CANE TRASH.
