Abstract
The process of powder metallurgy consists in the obtaining of metal powder and its transformation through important steps such as mixing, compaction and sintering, resulting in precision products and desired properties. The step of mixing can be conducted in different types of mixers according to the alloy to be produced. The purpose of this is to evaluate the behavior of the alloy Al5%Cu obtained by powder metallurgy, using the mixer to low energy at different mixing times. For realization of this experiment was to built a prototype of a mixer of low-power cylindrical type, in which they have been prepared bodies of evidence in different times. Subsequently the samples were compressed uniaxialmente the same pressure, and sintered together in a furnace type muffle model Q312M21 of Quimis, at the temperature of 450°C, with a plateau of 1 h, followed by cooling later in the oven to 25°C for 7 hours. Between the results of the analyses carried out, we highlight the microdureza HV and the evaluation of its microstructure, which have shown a strong influence of mixing time on the hardness and homogenization of the alloy respectively.
