Abstract
Recent advances in materials science and engineering make it possible to associate polymeric matrices with reinforcements on a nanometric scale in order to obtain composites with high strength and low structural weight. This work presents experimental results of indentation with a spherical tool that describe the mechanical behavior under compression of pure epoxy resin, epoxy resin reinforced with carbon nanotubes and epoxy resin with graphene platelets. The experiments are carried out on specimens subjected to dimensional and surface finishing control. The marks obtained are measured under a confocal microscope, and the mechanical behavior of the different composites configurations is detailed and discussed. It is observed that the percentage of added reinforcement doesn’t affect mechanical properties positively, although there is change in the morphology of the indentation marks.
