Abstract
This article aims to compare the torque and power curves of the VW EA211 1.0 L 3-cylinder engine in the naturally aspirated (MPI) and supercharged with direct injection (TSI) versions, obtained through tests aided by eddy current roller dynamometers, both running on Brazilian ethanol as fuel. Based on the 2018 NBR ISO 14396 engine test standard and experimental methodology for exploring the systematic and random errors inherent in the system and the natural variability of the measurand. In view of the results obtained and the comparison of the curves for the engine in its aspirated version with homogeneous injection in the manifold and in the version with turbo compressor and direct fuel injection, it was possible to notice the efficiency gain provided by the overpressure in the admission in the case of the TSI , that the reduction of engines and the use of fuel injection technologies combined with compressors allow better performance to be extracted from smaller engines without neglecting the specific consumption of the engine.
