Abstract
The objective of the present work is to verify the possibility of detecting cracks in rotating shafts by combining resonances through the application of periodic external excitation, which should exhibit well-defined amplitude and frequency. The harmonic balance approach was applied, as it is commonly used in periodic solutions, and the vibration response in the frequency domain was obtained, revealing peaks at combined frequencies. This work aims to confirm the interference of both the amplitude and frequency of the applied excitation force, as well as the position of the crack on the rotor shaft in question. In this context, it was possible to confirm the influence of these parameters on identifying the presence of a crack.
