THE SUPERABRASIVE GRINDING WHEELS CAN BE MANUFACTURED WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF BONDS, DEPENDING ON THE APPLICATION.. IN THE LATEST YEARS, TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS IN THE TOOL MANUFACTURING PROCESS WERE REACHED, AND, NOWADAYS, THE GRINDING WHEELS WITH RESIN AND VITRIFIED BONDS ARE USED AT THE SAME RATE (31 AND 32%, RESPECTIVELY). THIS PAPER SHOWS A RESEARCH ABOUT THE COMPARATIVE BEHAVIOR BETWEEN TWO TYPES OF SUPERABRASIVE GRINDING WHEELS, MANUFACTURED WITH VITRIFIED AND RESIN BONDS, ANALYZED IN DIFFERENT CUTTING CONDITIONS. THE MATERIAL GROUNDED WAS THE VC 131 STEEL, QUENCHED. THE OUTLET PARAMETERS ANALYZED WERE: TANGENTIAL CUTTING FORCE, SUPERFICIAL ROUGHNESS AND G RATIO. SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO TYPES OF TOOLS WERE OBSERVED ONLY IN THE RESULTS OF G RATIO, AND THE VITRIFIED BOND S TOOL PRESENTED THE HIGHEST VALUES. THE OTHERS OUTLET PARAMETERS PRESENTED A STABLE BEHAVIOR DURING THE TESTS. THE DIFFERENCES DETECTED ON THEM, CHANGING THE SUPERABRASIVE TOOL, WERE NOT SIGNIFICANT, BECAUSE, AT THE END OF EACH TRIAL, THE CUTTING TOOL STILL HAD CUTTING ABILITY TO REMOVE MUCH MORE MATERIAL.
