DETERMINATION OF EUTECTOIDS STEELS MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND COSTS

A STUDY WAS CONDUCTED IN EUTECTOID STEELS WITH SINGLE AND MULTIPLE MICROALLOYING ADDITIONS (FIVE DISTINCT COMPOSITIONS. THE SAMPLES WERE HEATED AT 1200?C FOR TWO HOURS, AND THEN ROLLED IN THE REGION OF AUSTENITE RECRYSTALLIZATION THROUGH THREE PASSES AT 1100, 1050 AND 1000°C WITH 50% OF TOTAL REDUCTION IN THE SCHEME A, CALLED ROUGHING ROLLING AND AIR COOLED. IN THE SCHEME B, AFTER ROLLING IN THE SCHEME A, THE SAMPLES WERE ROLLED IN THE REGION OF NON RECRYSTALLIZATION OF AUSTENITE WITH THREE PASSES AT 900, 875 AND 850°C, WITH 41% OF TOTAL REDUCTION FOLLOWED BY AIR COOLING (CONTROLLED ROLLING. ROOM TEMPERATURE HARDNESS, TENSILE AND CHARPY IMPACT TEST WERE PERFORMED AND THE RESULTS WERE COMPARED WITH EUTECTOID ALLOY STEELS ONLY ROLLED, AND WITH EUTECTOID STEEL QUENCHED AND TEMPERING EXTRACTED FROM THE LITERATURE. COST COMPARASION BETWEEN THE ALLOY STEELS, AND QUENCHED AND TEMPERING WAS ALSO PERFORMED.
