GRINDING PROCESS AIMS THE INCREASING OF SURFACE FINISH AND TO ASSURE THE SURFACE INTEGRITY OF PARTS TERMICALLY TREATED OR NOT. HOWEVER, DURING GRINDING OPERATIONS THE TEMPERATURE AT THE CONTACT REGION BETWEEN GRAIN AND WORKPIECE CAN ACHIEVE ABOUT 1000ºC. THIS IS ENOUGH TO CHANGE THE STRUCTURE ON THE SURFACE OF THE WORKPIECE. MOREOVER, THERE IS ANOTHER TROUBLE THAT OCCURS ON GRINDING PROCESS: LACK OF COOLANT AT THE CONTACT REGION BETWEEN WHEEL AND WORKPIECE, THAT CAUSES AN INCORRECT COOLING OF THE WORKPIECE. THIS KIND OF COOLING CAN ALSO AFFECT THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND WORKPIECE. THE PRESENT ISSUE PURPOSES THE STUDY OF THE HEAT AFFECTED ZONE (HAZ) ON GROUND WORKPIECES TO IDENTIFY THE POSSIBILITY OF OCCURRENCE OF DAMAGES TO THE WORK SURFACE. TO DO MUCH, THE ISSUE HAS SOME ANALYSIS OF WORKPIECES GROUND UNDER DIFFERENT GRINDING, DRESSING AND TREATING CONDITIONS. |
