Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the number of patent applications deposited in the patent data from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the National Intellectual Property Institute (INPI) and the European Patent Office (Espacenet) related to the area of ​​Continuously Variable (CVT). The methodology used in this research was based on the use of keywords inserted in the campus of searches of said databases related to the topic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The results of the searches were analyzed, interpreted and compared, generating statistical graphs that show the process of innovation and technological production in this area. Based on the analysis of the results, it is observed that Brazil, when compared to other countries, it presents a low quantity of patents in this technological area, registering a volume only nine (9) patent application filings related to this technology in a single database, INPI.
