Abstract
The objective of this work is to evaluate the applicability of the filter consisting of the powder of coconut fiber, which will be used under house sinks to retain impurities of the water used in the washing of dishes, specifically oils / fats, in this way the work in the treatment plants wastewater treatment may be facilitated. In the methodology the filter model was made using a manual press, where several different loads were applied. Thus, it was possible to find the ideal point of coconut fiber compaction for application in the filter mesh, and finally used kitchen oil used as test fluid. Based on the results, the effectiveness of the coconut fiber filter in which the prototype was able to retain much of the oil in the experiment was confirmed.
