Abstract

The main objective of the article is to verify and analyze the number of patent deposits in the related to the desalinator based on the databases of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the European Patent Office (Espacenet) and the National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI). Thus, the search method consisted of the search for keywords related to the technology of the desalinator, obtaining the amount of existing deposits. With the analysis and comparison of the results it was possible the construction of charts and tables showing the development of this technology in countries and over the years. Thus, Brazil has still little research on the subject, with only 39 INPI.
