Abstract
Due to the importance of studying the dynamics of fluids and the impasses in carrying out experiments in this context, it is relevant to develop computational means to visualize flows that are efficient and can offer results that are sufficiently close to reality. That said, this work consists of verifying the IMERSPEC 2D methodology, which combines Fourier pseudospectral and immersed boundary methods to simulate the boundary conditions, based on the simulation of a laminar and two-dimensional flow between two plates over a square cross section ledge. The objective is to validate the methodology and the independence of the results by refining the divisions number of the physical domain. The results presented in the present work show the velocity fields obtained from four simulations with different placement points and the experimental results by Onur and Baydar (1992), that was used as a reference, are compared. It was possible to observe that the proposal offers a satisfactory approximation to reality under the suggested conditions.
