Abstract
The present study analyzes the processing of aluminum alloy AA3107 by powder metallurgy (PM) technique, using the route of cold uniaxial compaction and solid phase sintering. The process will start from the AA3107 alloy powder manufactured by high energy ball milling (HEBM), which will be compacted and in the sequence sintered, thus manufacturing a dense solid, this study aims to validate the MP manufacturing technique as an alternative in the production of the studied alloy. The developed alloy was characterized by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and Vickers microhardness (HV) techniques. The characterization steps of the fabricated material showed a marked porosity, low densification and an inhomogeneous microstructure, but acceptable hardness values were obtained for the alloy under study.
